This year India and Pakistan will be celebrating their 70th Independence Day with much Patriotic zest, as they do every year. The two are neighboring countries, sharing ancestors, cultures, traditions and languages but if the truth was told, then a long history of political and religious reforms has always created a damaging division between the two nations, so much so that conflict and accusations has become daily practice for each of the governments, which all aides the tragic rift.
The organizers of this ‘new initiative” understand that “the people” of both nations have a mutual love, appreciation and recognition for the language of music, and if this antiquated medium was given a new purpose and used to bridge two nations, connects hearts, open horizons of the mind & unite all South Asian under one roof (NRG Arena) then that would not only send a powerful message to the world but also support community cohesion in Houston & the opportunity to celebrate the south Asian communities, who reside outside of India and Pakistan, especially the 2nd, 3rd generations who have adapted & evolved from this unfavorable, counterproductive ideology.
As the Ethos of the festival is to demonstrate that “music has no boundaries” two Iconic headlining acts from each neighboring country have been selected to share the same stage, and been given the responsibility of performing/ singing the national anthems for all three countries, united states of American, India and Pakistan.
